His iconoclastic style is seen in both the interior building (which reflects a contemporary version of the Lapidus design-a 1960's look with eclectic touches, a retro-cool feel, and design accents) as well as the exterior blue façade - which is shaped like a perpendicular rolling wave. This Midtown Manhattan hotel is also where Marilyn Monroe made history. In 1955, while filming "Seven-Year Itch", Marilyn was posed in front of the hotel when a gust of air from the subway vents blew the skirt of her white halter dress skyward - and made history!
